Protest Action – Mass Medication(Currently scheduled for August 15th, 2009 Saturday 1pm – Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch)Details updated at http://www.healthfreedom.co.nz/current-protest-action.htmlHealth Freedom NZ (along with other organisations) will be holding nationwide action against the up and coming enforcement of mass medication of four million New Zealanders through our daily bread, currently scheduled to begin in September 2009.We object to this enforcement on the following grounds:1. Mass Medication through food or water is immoral and breaches your civil liberties.2. Why should men, young children and women, who can’t conceive or have no plans to conceive, take medication meant for a few pregnant women?3. The main consumers of bread in New Zealand are young men. Young women (the target market for the medication) are not large consumers of bread according to a study undertaken by Otago University. To be effective a woman would need to consume at least 11 pieces of bread. This is not good diet practice and highly unlikely to occur, therefore the scheme is irrelevant for New Zealand and will be ineffectual.4. If we don’t stand up for food sovereignty now, it will set a dangerous precedent when food standards coming down from the Codex Alimentarius Commission reach our shores.Codex is currently setting the following standards:• The addition of acceptable levels of GM in food (even organic food) without advising you on the label.• The addition of thousands of synthetic chemicals to food, many of which are known carcinogens, without advising you on the label (read more about this on our website). These standards are being pushed by Australian and New Zealand representatives to Codex and we may once again be facing loss of sovereignty to Australian bureaucrats. Now is the time we must act to push back the tide. We call on the government to represent the people of this nation, rather than Australian and big business interests. Health Freedom supports Minister Wilkinson to “make that call please”, pick up the phone saying on behalf of the New Zealand people “we have no option but to postpone implementation on folic acid in our bread until further review”. By protesting we will empower our elected officials to represent the majority of our country, by showing them that New Zealand oppose mass medication. If you would like to volunteer or co-ordinate protest action in your town please contact us at Info@HealthFreedom.co.nz.
